Dr. Biplab Kumar Patra

  • Dr. B.K. Patra completed Ph.D. in Oct, 2016 in Chemistry from the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, India. PhD supervisor Prof. Narayan Pradhan. (Jan, 2012-Oct, 2016)

  • He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Nanoscale Solar Cells (With Prof. Erik C. Garnett) and Center for Nanophotonics, AMOLF (Atomic and Molecular Physics) Physics of Functional Complex Matter, Amsterdam, The Netherlands from Nov 2016 until Oct 2019.

  • After that, he has been working as a Scientist at the Materials Chemistry Department at CSIR - Institute of Minerals & Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar  since Dec 24th, 2019.

AWARDS & HONOURS :

  • Awarded DST-SERB Start-up Research Grant 2020 in Chemistry from CSIR-IMMT

  • Postdoc Fellowship position for three years (2016-1019) from Netherlands Government under NWO-VIDI grant (Prof. Erik Garnett)

  • Best Oral Presentation Award in Materials Science Day 2016 at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Jadavpur, Kolkata

  • Qualified NET (National Eligibility Test, India) in chemistry June 2011 with CSIR fellowship. All India Rank 46.

  • Qualified GATE in chemistry (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, India) March 2011

Research Expertise: 

  • Functional materials, Synthesis of Nanomaterials, perovskite materials (wet chemical and vapour phase). Self-assembly/capillary assembly/nanopatterning, photonic, magnetic and optoelectronic applications.

  • Semiconductor photovoltaics, Superlattice Structures, Lithography, Surface and interface chemistry in nanoscale structures.
